Who, What, Why, A short History Of RDA.

Raven Defensive Arts was born in January 2015 under the guidance of founders and senior instructors/coach's Pete Mcdonagh and Rachael Price. RDA is affiliated to the National Sports and Traditional Karate club, (NSTK), and as the NSTK we have had classes in the Mansfield area since 1982. RDA's base martial art is traditional Japanese Wado Ryu Karate blended with light contact sport Karate. This gives new and old students an exiting mix of style and method to develop mind and body which opens the way for future developement. Three decades on from our NSTK beginings our instructional team brings a wealth of styles, experience and knowledge covering sport training, full and semi contact competition martial arts, basic breakaway techniques, street self defense and self defense awareness training. Add to this a mass of life and working experience in various government institutions, all of which you can read about in our instructor profiles.

Why choose RDA:-

Personal developement and growth is at the core of our teaching. It doesnt matter to us if you want to be a successful competator or just want to be a little fitter than you where, we strive to give you the best advice and training methods we can.

Egos are left at the door!! everyone at RDA encourages each other to grow and learn.

We have female and male Instructors teaching all aspects of martial arts from competitive fighting to street defense so come train like a girl, if you're  tough enough!

Each class is taught by and attended by World, European, National and Regional champions, so there is a wealth of experience to call on when ever you train.

Our location is out of the way so if you are a little self concious you are away from prying eyes, and with 24 hour on site security, your vehicle is as safe as can be.

Family is a word often used by clubs to convince people to join them with the promise of something more than just training. Well at RDA being part of our classes or one of our programmes can lead to you to feeling part of something bigger than just being part of a club. So come see for yourself and you decide what its all about!!!

Training Ethos:-

Train hard, have fun, develop your potential and be the best that you can be.

We support anti-knife crime and anti-bullying campaigns and regularly give demonstrations of how deverstating knife attacks can be and use these as a platform for pressing home the anti -knife crime message.
